Today, our Brooks campus was fortunate enough to have our always supportive principal, Mrs Woehleke lead a graphing calculator tutorial to students in all high school levels of math! She battled the snowy roads and gave us her expertise in all things mathematics!! The students felt way more confident after, and learned some useful tips!! We celebrated our Saint Luke’s Brooks - 2024-2025 Awards today. Our Foods class did an amazing job preparing and serving an incredible spread. A long standing , beautiful @stlukesoutreach.ctr Brooks tradition is to attend Mass at the seniors home, New Brook Lodge. We attend this mass on the third Thursday of each month. It is an invitation that we cherish. Yesterday, Father Elli gave a beautiful homily of how faith gives us purpose and hope. Such a needed message for youth and seniors. Our Brooks students were given an opportunity to attend the Open House at Medicine Hat College Campus. They enjoyed an extensive tour of several trades and bachelor programs. It was both informative and inspiring. There are so many great options so close to home. Our students also got to apply for a program for free, which many took advantage of. Remembrance Day is tomorrow. We were thankful to join our sister schools , @stjosephscollegiate and @christtheking.ctr , in the annual Remembrance Day Service today. I t was solemn and reflective, yet hopeful at the same time . With hundreds of youth in one gym , it was amazing how still and reverent everyone was during the moment of silence. It was a display of much deserved respect to our veterans and military. This year was for da girls! Our female staff dressed as our female hockey players today! What a comfort fit! Cozy hoodies, Birkenstocks and UGGs are the day-to-day uniform for our U 18 AAA Raiders ! One of our students, Sylver Voutier, is going to Australia for three months to work as a nanny and travel the world. She will continue her classes online, while she travels! Our unique flexibility and online programs allow for students like Sylver to work on her courses while she is exploring abroad. We cannot wait for her to return so we can hear all about it!! Our School Liaison Officer, Constable Campbell, came into take Q&A from our students. He has been so great to visit and connect with us. The majority of questions were about driving infractions, street drugs, the Youth Criminal Justice Act , and what his Body Armour is made of! Today, a group of staff and students in Brooks were blessed to watch the WildTounges in an attempt to deepen our understanding about Truth and Reconciliation. The message was clear. Reconciliation requires empathy. It was a honour to be included. 🏃🏽 Terry Fox Walk 🏃🏽 September 25 at 1:00 pm This year, our Brooks campus will do a Terry Fox walk for a special reason. In June, one of our 2025 graduates, Jacob Majcan, was diagnosed with cancer. Jacob is currently receiving treatments and is doing well, but he needs our prayers and strong community support. In his honor, we will be raising money for cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation. Though we are a small school, we are committed to doing what we can to support Jacob and all those who are affected by cancer. We invite our students, families, and community to join us in this important cause on Thursday, September 25 at 1:00 pm. Together, we can make a difference. Today, our students in Brooks participated in our third annual Citizen Walk About to support people with disabilities. The walk celebrates the beauty of inclusion, everyone individual’s gifts and talents, and the importance to love thy neighbour. We heard speeches from parents, members of TAG, the mayor, counsellors and more. The students also wrote messages of positivity on the sidewalk to encourage people when they are down. Our students participated in the Brooks and District Youth in Philanthropy program again this year. The students examine the needs of the community, complete research and write grants to secure funds for charities. Today , Jenna Cyr presented cheques on behalf of our school to the following charities : $500 dollars for the Brooks Foodbank , $500 dollars for Life Talk Counselling for people who need help to pay for therapy and $800 dollars to the Brooks Animal Protection Society. #lifeatstlukes #leavenotoneheartbehind

Our students in Brooks, Alberta were able to participate in the Skills Trade Event put on by the Brooks Newell Region and Medicine Hat College Campus. The students were able to be hands on with welding, use pipe cutters for plumbing, complete an electric circuit and much more. Spring is getting here, which means it is almost Grad time. 👩🏻‍🎓 🧃As a fundraiser, we are going to do a BOTTLE DRIVE! 🧃This year, we will do it differently in an effort to make it work for everyone who wants to participate!!! 🧃From March 13th until April 5th, you can take your bottles to the depot and donate them in St Luke’s name!!! Grads will also collect bottles from friends, neighbors etc and bring them to the depot and have them put in our school’s name. Contact a graduate that you love to schedule your pick up! 🧃Unfortunately, we can’t store the bottles at the school, but THANKFULLY we have an account set up at the depot! Shrove Tuesday comes from the word “shrive”, meaning “absolution following confession”. Christians everywhere traditionally visit their church on Shrove Tuesday to confess their sins and cleanse their soul before Ash Wednesday. As we enter into this Lenten season, we took time in religion class to focus on prayer, fasting and giving alms. St. Luke’s Outreach Center is proud to award this year’s Christian Witness Award to the much deserving, Jodi Parks. 🫶🏻🙌🏻✨ Jodi is an exemplary teacher, and she holds each student to a high standard because she believes in the immense potential in each of them. She sees the gift that God has given them, even when they may not see it themselves. Jodi shares her faith with ease, as it is integrated into everything she does. She prays with her students every day. She takes students to church with her often. She led a small Bible study group with only three students. Jodi is always willing to share her faith. 🙏🏼 It is not only our students that benefit from Jodi’s unwavering faith. Mrs. Parks is the faith leader for our staff, and she brings a personal touch to our faith discussions, staff prayer and lectio. Her vulnerability and openness are a gift to everyone she encounters, and she is a true witness to Christ and his love. Our students in Brooks spent some time today serving ice cream sandwiches and visiting the seniors at Newbrook Lodge . Serving the community helps our students grow in their faith and skills and is an important component of life at St. Luke’s. Honestly, it was more fun and heart warming than anything else. Did you know St. Luke’s Outreach Centre celebrated their largest graduation class in history last year? We celebrated the accomplishments of 77 incredible young people in May 2024 with a liturgy, graduation ceremony and formal dinner!! Did you know 2025 is on track to break that record? That’s right! Our students have been embracing the spirit of advent. The pinnacle was when a group of students volunteered to lead music at our advent mass at the seniors home, Newbrook Lodge . One of our students, Justice Appiah lead with guitar and the rest of us sang a joyful noise. The students practiced on their breaks and free time. They were so full of courage and faith. We are so proud. We also enjoyed skating and shared some acts of kindness for each other that had to be homemade. It lead the students to really needing to get to know the person they were paired with . Michael B. is one of our student athletes. This is his first year with @stlukesoutreach.ctr and while he is one of ours, he has earned to opportunity to play basketball for the HTA Senior Boys team. This is a shot from Friday’s game against Father Lacombe at the Tournament at St. Francis High School. The Knights went on to win the tournament undefeated! Coach Macleod (assistant coach) had this to say about Michael: “Since his arrival, Michael has been a strong presence in the post, utilizing his size and strength for key rebounds and a soft touch around the hoop for quick put-backs. Beyond his on-court contributions, he has also proven to be a fantastic teammate and a great ambassador for HTA/St. Luke’s.” Thank you to @holytrinityacademy.ctr and their coaching staff for giving our students a chance to try out with your teams! Our Brooks Awards winners from 2023-2024!! Each year our campuses give out awards to students who stand out in areas of academics, athletics, community and faith. This is a list of this year’s recipients for our Brooks Campus. Governor General Award The recipient of this award has the highest academic achievement in all subjects for grades 11 and 12. Recipient: Jordynne Lubbers Christian Witness Award Jesus lived among the marginalized of society who often had little formal religious training. Our school revolves around the parables of the Good Samaritan and the Prodigal Son found in the Gospel of St. Luke where themes of unconditional love, support, acceptance, and forgiveness are exemplified. The recipient of this award lives these virtues. Recipient: Angelina Wall and Kelsey Lubbers Most Improved Awards The recipients of these awards have an increase in academic standing in core subjects from one grade level to the next. They have also shown improvement in their work habits, confidence, attendance, and overall life management skills. Recipient: Justice Appiah Rise Above Award This award recognizes those students who have faced and risen above significant personal and academic challenges with courage, determination, perseverance, and self-discipline. This person recognizes their own value and worth, as well as the value and worth of others, and demonstrates resilience in the face of adversity. Recipient: Jacob Majcan Athletic Award The recipient of this award pursues a healthy, active lifestyle and participates in organized physical activities. Recipient: Sylver Voutier Ambassador for St. Luke’s Our school strives to develop, nurture, and support a group of confident, caring individuals who will go and take the principles that St. Luke’s embodies into the larger community. Nominees are often our greatest advocates and represent St. Luke’s in an especially meaningful way. The recipient of this award is the face of St. Luke’s inside and outside the walls of our school. Today, we celebrated Mass at our St. Luke’s Outreach Center Brooks Campus with the blessing of our new building. We are so thankful and hopeful for our hallowed ground. Father Eligo Canete was so passionate and loving to our students. He shared the love of God and Saint Luke in such an impactful way . We were supported by our retired Catholic school teachers and founders which was such a blessing.
