Mark 2 of Catholic School: An excellent Catholic school is imbued with a Catholic worldview. This year we received extra mental health money to supplement how we support all of our students, and we choose to take them to the Calgary Zoo. While at the Zoo we were given a guided tour on Biodiversity, wildlife preservation and new life. As Mark 2 of a Catholic school tells us our decisions need to be rooted is Gospel values, we wanted our students to have this amazing experience so they can feel the beauty of God’s creation and see the world as God does. He has a bigger plan then our current worries and our individual problems and anxieties. This day is especially important as we move away from Covid restrictions and reintegrate into the world!! It was also a day to build community, culture and appreciation for each other and the world around us! #ibelieveincatholiceducation #catholiceducation #mark2 #worldview #learn #experience #appreciate #stlukes
This week we celebrate Catholic Education Week. Mark 1 of a Catholic school calls us to celebrate the gifts and talents of others, and this week we get to celebrate some of this year’s success stories at our St.Luke’s graduation ceremony. 🎓 We are excited to announce that Taylor Lubbers has been chosen to give the Graduation Address at the ceremony on Thursday where we are excited to recognize the hard work and dedication of the graduates from all three campuses. Taylor has accepted the honour of valedictorian this year, and here at St. Luke’s that decision is based not solely on academics, but with a strong emphasis on character, determination, spirituality, community involvement and resilience. Taylor is a shining example of all of these things. She joined our Brooks Campus at the start of her grade 11 year and has accomplished so much on a personal level, and in the meantime she has made our school and life at St. Luke’s better for everyone she meets. ✨ Taylor exemplifies the leadership role criteria and is a true mark of a Catholic school. We are excited to hear her speech and celebrate and honour all of our students and their perseverance this week!!! Congrats Taylor!! 🎓 #catholiceducation #mark1 #celebrategiftsandtalents #celebrate #graduation #valedictorian #grad #congratulations #student #studentswholead #leader #stlukes

In an effort to spread awareness and show support for an important cause, St. Luke’s campus in Brooks created a new school window display. Our students hope to raise awareness about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls. ❤️ Red Dress Day honours and remembers the disproportionate number of Indigenous sisters, daughters and mothers impacted by violence and discrimination in Canada. The rosary pictured was a gift given to us that was made especially to help us pray for Truth & Reconciliation. We will pray, learn and advocate for the women and girls in indigenous communities, past, present and future. #reddressday #prayforreconciliation #prayforhealing #reddressday2022 #education #awareness #acknowledgment #nationaldayofawareness #nationaldayofawarenessformissingandmurderednativewomenandgirls

“He is risen.” Matthew 28:6 Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus from the tomb on the third day after his crucifixion. Easter is the fulfilled prophecy of the Messiah who would be persecuted, die for our sins, and rise on the third day (Isaiah 53). Remembering the resurrection of Jesus is a way to renew daily hope for each of us, and an important reminder that no matter what we go through, we can overcome it!! Happy Easter from our St. Luke’s family to yours. May this Easter break bring you a renewed hope and joy for all life has to offer! #happyeaster #heisrisen #hope #faith #joy #love #thegreatestoftheseislove #easterblessings #overcome #rise #blessed

The Drama students at Brooks's St. Luke's earned an Honorable Mention in the 2020 Safe Gen Alberta Workplace Safety Video Contest. To follow Covid safety measures, they turned to creating a video as a creative outlet. They began by writing a script that highlights a safety tip for the workplace. They decided to work with the theme of Keeping Your Coworkers Safe (K.Y.C.K.S) and focus on the importance of reading the safety manual for a workplace. They students wanted to do a comical slant on it and settled on a group therapy situation after an accident had occurred that had been caused by a worker not knowing the rules. You can watch the video and other winning entries at the following website: https://safegen.ca/video-contest/
