Students at our Okotoks campus had the privilege and honour to learn from a past student about Indigenous life. Kyle Young Pine shared the afternoon with us. We watched his documentary and listened as he shared his story about embracing his Indigenous heritage and his journey to becoming a Fancy Feather dancer. The staff and students at our Brooks campus were able to attend mass with Father Marino and the Newbrook Lodge residents today. It was a joyful and holy way to celebrate and reflect on the blessings of Catholic Education. We are reminded once again how blessed we are to learn and grow in this faith community! She has taught at multiple grade levels (2-6-7-8-9) and in multiple schools, and she brings that experience and passion here every day!! We are so grateful that she chose Luke’s!! She actually said that if she had not become a teacher, she would’ve been a paediatric nurse because she just knew she was meant to work with young people!!! May 1 was PRINCIPAL DAY and we have the very best! Mrs. Woehleke has been with St.Luke’s since it was founded and she is incredibly passionate about helping every single student meet their full potential! She is kind and welcoming and she believes EVERYONE can be successful with a little support! She is also patient and forgiving and dedicated to creating a culture of faith, hope and love at each of our three campuses. We are all about second chances here and that’s because of the nature of our Principal and her right hand man, Mr. Sinclair! She is also a mom to three grown sons, a grandmother of two and a wife, yet she makes each of us feel appreciated and valued! This FEATURE STUDENT FRIDAY comes to you from our campus in Brooks, and also from all the way south in the USA!!! 🇺🇸 We want to give a big Golden Gophers high five ✋🏼 to Mason Eggen from our Brooks Campus. Mason played as a defencemen for the Helena Bighorns hockey club in Montana this winter, and he and his team won first seed in their division!!! 🥇🏒 🥅 Mason also was able to maintain an Honor Roll 📜 average while taking challenging courses like Math 20-1, English 20-1, Chemistry 20, Social 20-1!! This is not by accident. Mason works hard on and off the ice and the best part is, he is also a fantastic young man of character! We are very proud to call him ours!!! We love that we can accommodate students like Mason to meet their athletic and academic goals simultaneously!!! Thanks for being an incredible ambassador for life at St. Luke’s! After years of pandemic restrictions, our @stlukesoutreach.ctr Brooks campus is filled with gratitude and hope after finally being able to rejoin the monthly Mass with the residents of Newbrook Lodge. This was a mass experience filled with joy! It was so great to see so many of our senior parishioners after being separated for so long. Father Marino’s homily was filled with great wisdom of being obedient in school, home and faith . This is a tradition we are so excited to restart!!
