TRANSPORTATION UPDATE 6:00 am – November 08, 2022
All of our schools are open, but rural routes will not be running in most communities, in either the morning or the afternoon. Although conditions appear to have improved, significant snowfall and drifting on rural roads has created unsafe driving conditions.
We expect in-town buses to run, but we anticipate that road conditions might cause some to run late. Please do not leave children unattended at bus stops, and please ensure that they are dressed appropriately for the conditions.
Please read below for transportation updates specific to your community.
Even where we initially determine that rural buses can travel, individual bus drivers have the authority to cancel routes if they determine that local conditions may be unsafe. In the case that a route is cancelled, Southland Transportation will contact families.
CTR will continue to monitor the road conditions throughout the day. Visit www.redeemer.ab.ca for up-to-date bus route information on the “Bus Status” tab in the top right.
Students and staff driving to school should use extra caution and plan for additional travel time.
Brooks – Schools are open. Bus drivers will not drive the rural portion of their routes, but in-town routes will still run. Due to winter weather and road conditions, there may be delays. Students and staff driving to school should exercise caution, giving them extra time. Canmore – The school is open. Bus drivers expect to run their routes. In the event that a driver cannot complete his or her route, parents will be contacted. Due to winter weather and road conditions, there may be delays. Students and staff driving to school should exercise caution giving them extra time.
