Today, we celebrated Mass at our St. Luke’s Outreach Center Brooks Campus with the blessing of our new building. We are so thankful and hopeful for our hallowed ground. Father Eligo Canete was so passionate and loving to our students. He shared the love of God and Saint Luke in such an impactful way . We were supported by our retired Catholic school teachers and founders which was such a blessing. Our grade 12 students and upgraders have had a big week. Yesterday, they had an excellent Guidance Counsellor presentation and one of one meetings with the highly experienced Val MacLellan. Then today they went to a trade skills and university job fair! They are spreading those wings to fly after grad. Even though they’re ready to grow up on us, they still came to play 9 way Kings Court volleyball with our grade 10s. Never too old to play. #leavenotoneheartbehind #lifeatstlukes

These young athletes chose @stlukesoutreach.ctr because they wanted some flexibility while they chased their dreams on and off the ice! What they didn’t know was that they were getting one of the best “coaches” for Math! Ms. Leslie Woehleke is an ace, and she’s going to keep this team on track in the classroom, so they can focus on their performance on the ice after school! Our Brooks students were invited to attend a beautiful display of culture and history today! Siksika Nation dancers put on a beautiful and inspiring performance today! The traditional dance was art in motion! The dancers lead all the people present into doing a Friendship Dance where students from elementary to senior high held hands and danced in a circle to the beat of the drum! Our Okotoks campus spent some time learning about Truth and Reconciliation today. Our beloved Dylan and Jodi presented to the whole campus. It is a sombre but important subject. While it is an important part of Canadian history, it is also in alignment with the Catholic Social Teaching of Human Dignity. Every child matters. 🧡 Period. Today our St. Luke’s students participated in a Citizens Walk about for People with Disabilities on Brooks. The theme this year is Champions for Disability Awareness. The walk was filled with joy and hope. The speeches were filled with the importance inclusion and unityIt was an inspiring experience for all who attended! UPDATE FROM OUR BROOKS CAMPUS! We had a great first day of getting organized for the year . Many students helped put some finishing touches on our new campus . We are all feeling very grateful. All work no play can be a little boring ! Today we paused the busyness and unpacking to make box forts. It’s important to work hard, but be joyful in the process! Jack and his 3 siblings, along with their parents, celebrated the Holy Sacrament of Baptism this past weekend. This public confession of faith is a beautiful thing to witness and a powerful, transformative experience.
